BIRTH NAME: Orfeo Vittorio Ricari

AGE: 198 (looks about 21)

BIRTH PLACE: outside Naples, Italy

HEIGHT: 5'4" WEIGHT: 105lbs.

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Mass, sleeping, feeding people, writing music, reliving painful and bitter old memories

INSPIRATION FOR RICARI: Mr. Peter Murphy (pictured at right; the photo is of Peter in 2000, which makes him about 40, so we'll say this is what Ricari looks like when he doesn't drink much blood). The fringy Caesar haircut, the limpid eyes, the sharp nose and profound lack of chin... such superb breeding! He moves like a cat, talks like a rat.... dresses like a pretentious, if tasteful, weirdo.
The name "Orfeo" was inspired by the David Sylvian song "Orpheus". "Ricari" is a mystery to me now; if there was a reason for it, it's lost now. His name was originally "Antonio" -- aren't you glad I changed it?

SECRETS ABOUT RICARI:
-He ran away from home, to Lake Geneva, when he was twenty years old - he missed Percy Bysshe and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley by three days and was stuck there for five months.
-He lost his virginity to his older sister, Elena.

-He worked as a poet, watercolourist, translator and interpreter for four years in Paris, supplementing his meager income with occasional bouts of food-stealing and prostitution.
-He speaks fluent Cantonese.
-He fantasized as a child of becoming a martyr and of being lovers with Christ.
-His hair is the colour of pussywillow buds and his eyes change colour with the amount of light.

SONG FOR RICARI: the aforementioned "Orpheus" by David Sylvian. It's so gorgeous.

WHO WOULD I CAST AS RICARI? That's a good question - Jude Law comes to mind; he was a great vampire in The Dreams of Crocodiles (available on video as Immortality; I can't recommend it highly enough), but for that very reason, would he be in my movie? There are unfortunately so few actors who are just PRETTY enough to play Ricari - he's got to be small and delicate and brittle.
